Position Overview:
The Director of Public Relations, Content Writing, and Media is a voluntary position for individuals passionate about communication and social impact. This role involves developing and implementing effective communication strategies to enhance the visibility and reputation of We Care International. The Director will oversee public relations activities, content creation, and media relations to support the organization’s mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Public Relations Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive public relations strategy to promote We Care International’s mission, programs, and initiatives.
- Identify and leverage opportunities to enhance the organization’s visibility and reputation.
- Monitor public perception and address any issues impacting the organization’s image.
- Content Creation:
- Oversee the creation of high-quality content for various communication channels, including the organization’s website, social media, newsletters, and press releases.
- Write and edit compelling stories, articles, and reports that highlight the impact of We Care International’s work.
- Ensure all content aligns with the organization’s brand voice and messaging.
- Media Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, and media outlets.
- Develop and distribute press releases, media kits, and other materials to secure media coverage.
- Coordinate media interviews, press conferences, and other media-related events.
- Social Media Management:
- Develop and implement social media strategies to engage and grow the organization’s online community.
- Create and schedule engaging content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Monitor social media metrics and adjust strategies to improve engagement and reach.
- Brand Management:
- Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all communication channels.
- Develop and maintain brand guidelines and templates for staff and volunteers.
- Monitor and protect the organization’s brand reputation.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather stories, data, and insights for content creation.
- Engage with donors, partners, and beneficiaries to highlight their contributions and experiences.
- Support fundraising and advocacy efforts through targeted communication campaigns.
- Internal Communications:
- Develop and implement internal communication strategies to keep staff and volunteers informed and engaged.
- Create and distribute internal newsletters, updates, and announcements.
- Foster a culture of open communication and collaboration within the organization.
- Crisis Communication:
- Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address potential issues or emergencies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries during a crisis.
- Ensure timely and accurate communication to stakeholders during a crisis.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns.
- Prepare and present reports on communication activities and outcomes to the CEO and board of directors.
- Use data and feedback to inform continuous improvement of communication efforts.
- Volunteer Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers involved in public relations, content creation, and media activities.
- Ensure volunteers are adequately supported and recognized for their contributions.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Previous experience in public relations, content writing, media relations, or a related field, preferably within the NGO/charity sector.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong storytelling and content creation abilities.
- Proficiency in social media management and digital marketing.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with media and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and content management systems.
- Familiarity with graphic design and video editing tools is a plus.
